The role of the Social Worker in children's profiling: the case of the Chiboene Neighborhood (2018-2022).

This article addresses the theme “the role of the social worker in the adoption of children in the Chiboene neighborhood (2018-2022)”, based on the case of the omission of the parents' names in birth records, triggered at the Munuahomo Primary School, applying a mixed approach. Based on law 22/2019, of December 11, which establishes adoption as a child's right, the research used documentary methods to examine extracts from the aforementioned law and birth certificates, and bibliographic methods to compare the statements of the interviewees with specific literature. The sample included 50 subjects and data collection was carried out through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The results show that 90.06% of the interviewees are unaware of the meaning and importance of adoption, due to lack of knowledge of the legislation, family problems and failures in the notarial guidance of the mobile brigades. The study highlights the need for social workers to intervene in the protection of children's rights, contributing to the scientific debate on Civil Registration in Mozambique, which has been little explored from a human rights perspective.
