Abstract

Road transport is the main form of collective passenger movement in Mozambique and in the Maputo Metropolitan region in particular. However, in recent years, both public and private road transport companies have faced enormous challenges motivated mainly by population growth, financial difficulties and degradation of access roads, which creates difficulties in the movement of people with a consequent impact on the economic and social development of people and the region. With the current scenario, it is urgent to find solutions that can reverse this situation and give users back confidence and peace of mind with this service, which is essential for the community. Investment in the rehabilitation and expansion of road access routes, the acquisition of more means of transport, investment in the railway sector, investment in the river sector, are highlighted as solutions to reduce the suffering of populations and ensure their movement to their places work, school, markets and other desired locations efficiently and effectively.
