Abstract

Digital transformation based on artificial intelligence (AI) can reconfigure management and economic growth paradigms. However, Lusophone markets, composed of countries with significant structural asymmetries, different levels of digital maturity, and recurrent exposure to external shocks, face specific challenges in adopting these technologies. This study asks: How can AI-powered digital management foster economic resilience and generate new growth models in Lusophone markets? This research aims to contribute to a dynamic, action-oriented debate on building more resilient, inclusive, and intelligent economies in the AI era, leveraging institutional ties and a growing critical mass of digital innovation. The objective is to analyze AI's role in redefining digital management and promoting new resilient growth models in Lusophone markets. We adopted a mixed-methods approach, combining a systematic literature review with case studies representative of different Lusophone geographies. The results indicate that AI-powered digital management significantly reduces response time to shocks and reconfigures growth models from extensive logics to data-intensive, predictive, and adaptive logics. However, these benefits depend on complementary investments in infrastructure, human capital, and data governance. Without adequate policies, AI may widen inequalities; with proper governance, it constitutes a unique lever for resilience and innovation in the Lusophone space.
