Natural resource economics, sustainable development: An application of the Angolan fisheries sector

In the years 2018, 2019 and 2020/2021, 4,745; 3,881 and 4,226 fishermen were registered, respectively, assigned to industrial and semi-industrial fishing. However, until 2019, continental and maritime artisanal fishing registered 70,788 fishermen and 25,849 women fish processors. As for licenses and vessels, in the same period, 271; 233 and 251 industrial and semi-industrial fishing vessels were licensed, respectively. As for artisanal fishing, up to 2019, there were a total of 17,506 vessels, 7,912 of which were maritime artisanal fishing, of which 4,965 have licenses and 9,594 are continental artisanal fishing. In terms of the sector's actual production, in the last four years, up to December 31, 2021, a total of 1,770,643 tons was reached, with the highest production in 2021 corresponding to 596,060 tons. The general objective of the research is to analyze the Economy of Natural Resources, Sustainable Development based on an application of the Fisheries sector in Angola. Specific objectives: To assess the fisheries sector in Angola as a source of income; To identify the population working in the fisheries sector, by province and type of fishing; Identify the registered fleets according to the type of vessel and number of licenses per fishing gear; Analyze information and data on fish catches and unloadings by base port, and average sales prices of some species. The hypotheses raised at the beginning of this study were validated, taking into account the composition of the data.
